The genus contains at least four described distributed in the Neotropical region, with records from Colombia and the Caribbean. Species Diversity
Four are currently recognized: Belotus abdominalis LeConte, 1851 (southern United States/Mexico region based on author), Belotus antillarum Leng & Mutchler (Caribbean), Belotus bicolor Brancucci, 1979, and Belotus minutus Leng & Mutchler (Caribbean). The appears to have a primarily Neotropical distribution with some Nearctic extension.
