Omophoita is a of flea beetles (Chrysomelidae: Alticini) comprising approximately 50 described distributed across North America and the Neotropics. Species within this genus are characterized by enlarged hind adapted for jumping, a defining trait of the tribe Alticini. Several species, including O. octoguttata, have been subject to detailed taxonomic study in southern Brazil, where morphological descriptions and observations have been documented. The genus has attracted cytogenetic research due to the presence of giant XY in some species.
