Kytorhinus is a within the leaf beetle Chrysomelidae. The genus name has sometimes been confused with Kytorhinus (a genus of seed beetles in family Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae), but current places Kytorhinus prolixus in Chrysomelidae. The was described by H.C. Fall in 1926.
