Neottiura Cobweb Spiders
Neottiura is a of -footed ( Theridiidae) first described by Anton Menge in 1868. The genus contains six and one distributed across Asia, Europe, North America, and North Africa. Members are small cobweb spiders that construct irregular, tangled webs. The species, Neottiura bimaculata, has the widest distribution, spanning from North America across Eurasia to Japan.
Distribution
Found in Asia, Europe, North America, and Algeria. Specific distribution varies by : N. bimaculata occurs in North America, Europe, Turkey, the Caucasus, Russia (European to Far East), Kazakhstan, Iran, Central Asia, China, and Japan; N. b. pellucida in Spain, France, and Italy; N. curvimana in Portugal, Spain, France, and Algeria; N. herbigrada in Madeira, the Mediterranean, Ukraine, China, and Korea; N. margarita in the Russian Far East, China, Korea, and Japan; N. suaveolens in Europe; and N. uncinata in the Mediterranean region.

Taxonomic History
The was established by Anton Menge in 1868. Several have been synonymized: N. apicata (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1872) = N. uncinata; N. nivalia (Saito, 1934) = N. bimaculata; N. pusillata (Roewer, 1942) = N. herbigrada; N. pustulifera (Levy & Amitai, 1982) = N. herbigrada; and N. regia (Drensky, 1929) = N. suaveolens.
