The genus contains distributed primarily across Eurasia, with additional species in North and South America, Australia, and North Africa. Species in this genus are small jumping spiders characterized by their distinctive arrangement and jumping typical of salticids. Two species, N. australis and N. taylori, occur in Australia, with N. australis showing morphological similarities to the Japanese species N. nojimai.
