Definition

A small, flattened beetle (Coleoptera: Laemophloeidae) and major cosmopolitan pest of stored grain and oilseeds, recognized by its reddish-brown coloration, slender body, and long antennae. Adults and larvae feed on damaged kernels, mold, and grain dust, thriving in warm, moist conditions; populations can build rapidly in undisturbed grain masses, making it a primary target for integrated pest management in grain elevators and warehouses.
