A of (order ) comprising small to medium-sized with reduced mouthparts in the stage and aquatic nymphs typically inhabiting cool, fast-flowing streams. The family contains at least three and approximately eight described species, distributed primarily in the Southern Hemisphere including Australia, New Zealand, and South America.
Etymology
From the type Nesameletus (Greek nesos 'island' + generic element -ameletus, of uncertain derivation) + -idae ( suffix).
