Definition

An infraorder of the suborder (order ) comprising the , a diverse group of more than 12,500 described of phloem-feeding insects. Members are distinguished from other auchenorrhynchans by two diagnostic wing and antennal characters: a (Y-shaped) anal in the forewing and thickened, three-segmented with a rounded or -shaped bearing a filamentous . The group includes twenty extant (e.g., , , , ) classified in the superfamily Fulgoroidea, plus two extinct superfamilies.
