A genus of viruses that infect insects, characterized by their icosahedral virions and a double-stranded RNA genome.

Etymology

From 'cytoplasmic' referring to their cytoplasmic inclusion bodies formed during infection and 'polyhedrosis', referring to the polyhedral structure of their occlusion bodies.
