Definition
A of small within the superfamily (Hymenoptera), characterized by a robust, heavily sculptured mesosoma and enlarged hind bearing teeth or serrations along the margin. Most are black with yellow, red, or white markings and are rarely metallic. The family is apparently polyphyletic and may be split into multiple families as phylogenetic relationships are resolved.
