A tropical parasitic disease caused by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi, transmitted to humans and other mammals primarily through the bite of infected triatomine bugs, commonly known as kissing bugs.

Named after Brazilian physician Carlos Chagas, who first described the disease in 1909.
