Identification
Members of Neomegalotomus can be distinguished from other Alydidae by the combination of broad and specific genitalic characters used in the original generic description. The two described , N. parvus and N. rufipes, were both described by Westwood in 1842 and require examination of male genitalia for definitive separation. As a genus within Alydinae, Neomegalotomus lacks the expanded hind tibiae found in some other alydid .
