Issini

Issini can be distinguished from other Issidae tribes by the combination of hemispherical body form, claval suture present on tegmen, and trilobed hind wings. Specific genera within Issini show diagnostic variations: Sinonissus lacks a median carina on the vertex and has tiny obscure tubercles on the frons, with Pcu and A1 veins fused at the basal half of the clavus; Macrodarumoides exhibits a wide hypocostal plate and rudimentary hindwings. Body length ranges from 4.2–6.3 mm in described species.

Vegetated environments, particularly shrubs in mountainous regions. Collections recorded from elevations around 1900 m (Mt. Baoshan, Yunnan).

Oriental realm, with documented occurrence in China (Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangxi).

Phloem fluid from young branches and sometimes roots.

Members prefer crawling and jumping in shrubs rather than flying, even when fully winged.

Plant feeder; feeding activity can cause yellowing of foliage. At high population densities, has been observed to seriously affect plant growth.
