2Shellenius is a small of planthoppers in the Derbidae, Otiocerinae, tribe Otiocerini. The genus was established by Ball in 1928 and contains distributed in the eastern United States and Mesoamerica. At least one species has been documented in association with palms in Rica. A recent taxonomic revision transferred Otiocerus interruptus Fowler to this genus as Shellenius interruptus.
